On July 14, Geoffrey Hunt, the 2010-2011 ASBMB science policy fellow, joined the ASBMB Policy Blotter as its newest contributor. Along with 2009-2010 ASBMB Science Policy Fellow Kyle Brown, Hunt will submit regular articles on science policy issues relevant to the biomedical science community.
“With his interests in science policy and his understanding of the scientific community, Geoff makes a valuable addition the Policy Blotter and ASBMB,” Brown said.
Hunt joins the Blotter with strong interests in stem-cell policy, education policy and communicating science to nontechnical audiences. In 2007 and 2008, Hunt performed at Cell Slam, a live, science-themed poetry presentation held at the annual meeting of the American Society for Cell Biology.
Hunt began his fellowship with ASBMB on July 6 after receiving his doctoral degree in molecular biology from Princeton University. His research focused on the basic biological properties of mouse embryonic stem cells.
Hunt will write for the Blotter for the next 15 to 18 months.
