Chris Kaiser withdraws candidacy as new NIGMS director

On April 25, just days before he was to take the helm of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, Chris Kaiser withdrew his candidacy as the incoming director of NIGMS for “personal reasons.”

Kaiser, a cell biologist and head of the department of biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was scheduled to replace Judith Greenberg, who has been serving as acting director since July.

Greenberg will continue as acting director as the selection for the new NIGMS director begins again.
