Government Shutdown Update #2

Shortly, the partial government shutdown will begin.  The Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Mike Mulvaney has directed federal agencies whose funding expires on December 21, 2018 to “execute plans for an orderly shutdown.”  Director Mulvaney’s notice can be found here.

What happens now?

The U.S. House and Senate are scheduled to convene at Noon on Saturday December 22nd.  Negotiations continue between House and Senate leadership, but no path forward has yet been identified.  President Trump issued a video via Twitter in which he tells American’s that he hopes the shutdown “will not last long.”
