The past few months in Washington have indicated a potential thawing of the icy cold partisan divide that has dictated politics for most of the past 5 years. A bipartisan budget agreement temporarily ended sequestration which has greatly affected research funding, and the funding plan for fiscal 2014 makes strides to recover losses incurred as a result of budget cuts (details of this deal can be found here).
Tonight at 9 p.m. EST, President Obama will deliver his State of the Union address, outlining his priorities for the next year, and providing advocates with insights into what we can expect from his FY15 budget proposal. At that time, why not join ASBMB Public Affairs Director Benjamin Corb, as he live tweets from the White House, and helps you to break through the “politics speak” of the State of the Union? During the President’s speech, Ben will be providing instant analysis and answering your questions on Twitter. Ben’s Twitter handle is @bwcorb, and the event will be tracked utilizing #SOTUScience.
Prior to watching the speech, see how well you can predict what will happen in our State of the Union game.
